About The Artwork
This started as a study for a recent body of work I've been making as i entered my MFA program. When a person worries about any issues of their life obsessively, they can become sick. If you are constantly afraid of losing people, they will leave. If you are afraid of being a victim of unrequited love, the love will never happen. If you sterilize your room for fear of germs, you will get sick. The person in the room is alone with these sicknesses. It's never healthy to obsess over anything. As the person alone is afraid of those things, their mind is going a million miles a minute, and they cannot hide those thoughts anymore. This is why the person has a gnarled texture in his skin. He is very sick, and cannot hide his thoughts alone anymore. The only way to get out is to wear those thoughts on your sick skin. There is no hanger on the back, and the piece is moderately textured with raised bumps of paint.

People within the work are often gaunt with enlarged heads, gnarled skin, and emancipated bodies. They are a projection of what we are afraid to admit to ourselves. The world that these figures inhabit has an overwhelmingly strong presence of emotion. It can be interpreted as negative, but with the dark tone comes the light. Being encapsulated inside your mind and creating dark does nothing for your being, it gives the illusion that there is nothing but doom and gloom. Feelings of isolation and detachment makes things worse, and expressing an individual view of your world can be challenging if your tongue is perpetually grasped in fear. I merely hope to express my experiences with those I regard as very close with a dream like environment in hope I’m not alone with my personal relationships and how they either regress, or progress.
