I painted this painting when I was on a holliday in Ferteventura Spain. I was there on my own. It felt good to have a painting to paint. I made this painting 'en plain air'. I sat on the beach painting this painting for five days in a row. Every afternoon I went back to the same spot to finish my painting. It was a very small but also very pictoresque beach. Ideal for making a painting of in my opinion. I think the image is very romantic. It looks like the man is waiting for something, Also the word 'amor' on the boat gives a hint to what exactly he is waiting for. Also oil has the capacity to hold the emotions and the atmospere into the paint. So that if you look at the painting for a longer time it really comes to life. I like to paint directly 'en plein air'. For me color is the most important. Before form there is color.
