• This abstract’s gold image was inspired by my summers of cooling off at the 3-acre aquatic pool of the Mandalay Bay casino south of the Las Vegas Strip. • Each time the sun hits the facade of the 43-story casino, the landscape that is reflected down into the pool includes golden rocks surrounded by a blue lagoon that faces the sun and not the moon. • Only a 3-mile, 8-minute drive from where I live on Dean Martin Drive, you can view not only most Strip casinos from Mandalay Bay, but also the new 60,000-seat Raiders Stadium built west across Frank Sinatra Drive. • Since the Nevada Governor might disallow Mandalay’s Summer visitors to use the pool, I hope Donald Trump would not tell me to stop looking at my art.
