About The Artwork

“One’s destination is never a place, but always a new way of seeing things.” – Henry Miller I believe a Boat gives us a sense of destiny. This life journey without it would be impossible to define our purposes. Similarly, the boat without someone leading, we wouldn’t be able to cruise in the middle of the ocean. As for the water, it fascinates me, all the repeals, and how the water captivates the shades, colors, and forms in its simplicity without changing itself. The water, most of the time in our storms of life, could have tremendous disaster effects and calamities. Still, for any other kind of transports over the water, it works as a support and maintains path. It is all about the dream; we can not live without our dreams as the boat on the water can not navigate still without the water. “Once you have traveled, the voyage never ends, but is played out over and over again in the quietest chambers, that the mind can never break off from the journey.” – Pat Conroy

Born in Brazil and currently based in Muizenberg, Cape Town, SA Bragah is a volunteer Social Worker Missionary and uses his art to fund his mission travels. His work tells stories of places, people, and events, expresses the fragments, scenes, and quotidian frames that give meaning to the cultures in which he partakes. "I use oils and acrylics as my primary medium and speak through different lines and strokes. Even the density and texture of the paint are used to evoke the environment, the scene, the moment, the complexity, and contrast. Being a foreigner in South Africa gives me the advantage of depicting Cape Town or South Africa through my experiences and views" he says.
