About The Artwork

I have always been fascinated by 3 dimensional art, using 2 dimensions. The use of colour and shade to create a 3D image. These are marbles, a toy from my past in Scotland. When simple games and inexpensive toys provided endless fun.

Born in Dunfermline, Scotland Colin Marson's artistic journey began quite late in life after a career in business. Starting in a small cottage in Stamfordham, Northumberland Colin began to paint landscapes of Scotland, bring back memories of his early life. It began as a hobby, but quickly progressed to submissions for the Summer Exhibition Royal Academy of Arts (London). The first galleries to exhibit Colin's paintings were of course in Edinburgh, Scotland. These included Zin Craigs Gallery and DiRollo Gallery (now Marchmont Gallery). Colin, although originally focused on landscapes, has also begun to diversify into abstract paintings and portraiture. His work abstract works plays with contrasting colours and a bold use of the organic/naturalistic.
