Painting: Acrylic, Oil, Spray Paint, Ink, Digital on Canvas.
There is a palpable rawness to the work and method of painting. The artwork accumulates additive and subtractive marks, so many that its surface is almost destroyed. The underlying base of prints and paint bears witness to the scratching and inscribing that has revealed it. We read snippets like »MoMA«, »Berlin«, »Star«. Everything else is fragmented or superimposed to the point of illegibility. Traces of subtractions are as central to the work as the scratchy lines of the sanding machine or the excessive staining from paint, pigments and varnish. Nothing coheres in a way that could be said to have substantive narrative dimension or pictorial legibility, except for visible stops and starts that prod the limits of content.
