Love is like water, it gets rough sometimes. Falling in love is foolhardy and illogical, if not downright dangerous. This series of paintings are stories of love that I’ve entitled ‘my history of drowning’ because falling in love is a lot like drowning. When you enter the water you never think that you might drown, just as every love affair begins as an intoxicating promise of bliss. Despite both logic and statistics, it is inconceivable to our love addled brains that new love could end in anything but happily ever after. These paintings are a history of love, a whimsical approach to romances that ended badly. But all love stories end badly – in either separation or death.
