Acrylic on Canvas. This is "Matilda". She is the terribly honest and incredibly real story of underlying complication, fear, exhaustion, and deep sorrow, overcome by the unexpected, yet totally welcome, restore-your-faith-in-humanity-type force of raya (love for a fellow human being). She is more than an outward expression of an internal feeling. She is a 10 minute conversation between two strangers, one of which happened to be in the right place at the right time for the other - a conversation that grew from grief and turned to hope and discussed all the intricate details of life in the smallest amount of time. She is a lot bigger than I ever thought she would be, but oh how she is deserving of her size.

My name is Annaliis and I am a Brisbane-based fine artist. Most of my work is abstract figures or abstract expressionism but I also paint a lot of animals. I tend to use bold, bright colours on big canvases, and I also paint unique designs on furniture. My latest series, "A Euphoric Lens", explores what joy is and how it looks in the lives of various people. Some pieces are an expression of my own experience and understanding of joy, while there are other pieces that are an interpretation of how joy has been experienced by others.
