Oil&acrylics&spray on canvas (2022) IronMan: god of the 21st Century Ironman breaks out of chaos and launches his energy beam: et fiat Lux. The message is a paraphrase of the famous phrase from the film Star Wars and given the "divine" nature of the superhero it becomes "May faith be with you". Superheroes have replaced classic myths in contemporary pop culture. In ancient times the myth was a story with the function of the bearer of a message and also of ethical and moral values. Umberto Eco in his essay "The myth of Superman" of 1964 writes "the mythological character of the comic ... must be an archetype, the sum of certain collective aspirations". He is the first Italian intellectual to understand the importance of comics. The charm of superheroes lies in this ability to make us live a thousand adventures, dream and aspire to an extraordinary life. We keep dreaming….
