Melancholy Painting

It is often possible to look at someone and without them speaking have an intuitive thought on how they are feeling and I sometimes think this comes from a recognition of shapes that come together in the way we hold ourselves. The bold black linear shapes are taken from a figure seated with his head on his knees, some might see this pose as despair but for me it was something less a feeling of melancholy for something lost. The work is unframed and is painted right to the edge of the paper.
