About The Artwork

This oil painting is inspired by several authors and musicians. Sabre explores how the energy of the universe is captured by composers where they create the cipher of notes for musicians to read. At the same time, the color exploration she uses is inspired by the author Kevin Dutton in his book "Black and White thinking". The book describes how our brains at the core are wired to categorize and make quick decisions. However, our increasingly complex world is not best described by black and white. The variety of colors she uses explores the complexities of middle tones. She uses opposites on the color wheel to play upon each other as they meet in the middle. The gray dots and lines are the musical score of Earth Wind and Fire, "September". The colors of a vibrant fall day is part of the mesmerizing and vibrant dreamscape. This piece was first displayed at her solo show "Meet Me in the Middle" at Jennifer Balcos Gallery. The artist hopes the viewers will be captured by the gorgeous colors, by curious about the connections of energy of the notes and contemplate how we are far more a like in our complexities then we are different. Meet her in the beautiful middle.
