About The Artwork
This painting is inspired by melting high arctic glaciers I saw while sailing on a tall ship in the fjords of Spitsbergen Svalbard, north of Norway. It conveys the paradoxical simultaneity of the beauty, and yet, uncertainty and fragility of global climate warming. There are aesthetic spaces within this work to wander for personal resonance and meaning. The white marks within the green circle represents the island of plastic that float in our oceans. Beautiful yet with a cautionary.
