About The Artwork
I was inspired to paint this series of five oils on paper after a summer of hiking in the high country. We were with a few other people and I walked up and around the lake to take some photographs of one of the group in the landscape. These paintings, for me, evoke that day and also a sense of our "smallness" amid the vastness of the mountains! I chose to work in the monochromatic palette of grays because it heightens that sense of starkness and aloneness I felt when thinking back to those days of hiking in the high country.

B. 1955 in Brooklyn, NY. Raised in Queens, moved to Manhattan, then back to Greenpoint, Bklyn. Moved in 1988 to a small rural town in the Rocky Mountains, Ridgway, CO where I still live and have a studio. I lived in Spain in 2012-2013 and continue to make regular trips there to draw and paint.
