About The Artwork
It was my grandmother who taught me the verb 'to mend'. She used it often, and chose it instead of 'to fix' or 'to repair'. Mending always seemed like a much better fit. I loved hearing her say it. Mending doesn't get nearly enough praise. Somehow there seems to be more depth in 'mending' than 'fixing'. Mending implies treasuring what exists while allowing for another breath. I now love to mend too! This piece is composed of several treasured mini paintings and beautiful off-cuts from larger paintings, done in acrylic, sand, ink, and cotton. I've woven together materials and memories, creating a unique patchwork piece. It's signed on the back and can be displayed 4 different ways, as the viewer sees best. It only needs a simple glass frame for hanging. Infuse your space with its earthy tones, textures and vintage feel!
