I tried to render the peace, calm, and tranquility of the place, with its clear waters, shiny pebbles and green forest around it, all gently touched by the s...

About the Artist

Bea Banfi

Italy

CSM Fine Art graduate. I am passionate about color. Landscapes, the sunrise, a sea wave at dawn, a quiet parking lot, a river in the wilderness... Nature is a constant inspiration to me.
I consider ordinary places to be really beautiful, especially in some particular moments with a certain light or silence. Places where I have been traveling to, or especially places I went to over and over again over time, dedicating my attention to them in different hours, seasons or even years.

My artistic path started at the core of the so called 'contemporary art world'. I used to paint abstract, minimalist work and debate over very, very intangible concepts with my peers and the gallerists. I then had the privilege to work as assistant fresco iconographer in a little beautiful Orthodox church in Romania, where I was thrown back into the so called 'past' all of a sudden.
From then on, understanding what was my place took several years, and I visited many places in my journey and work (Thessaloniki, Ikaria, Palermo, Graniti, Vilafranca del Penedès, Barcelona, Porto); in general, I can say I moved from North to South, and from the 'cutting edge' of art to simpler areas, areas of art that allow me to live with humans, and not with numbers or concepts.
What you see in these pages is very simple and should not need much other introduction.

Regarding living in different places, I can say that at some point in the journey I realised that instead of moving horizontally on this planet, we can move 'vertically', in the depth of our experience and love. From then on I still travel, but less and in a really different way.

The two main jobs that I did apart from painting and drawing, have been teaching to children, and prop-making for science museums (building and painting dioramas). Both jobs have been an immense part of my life and growth.
