Mirage Painting

It was a hot day. He was sitting at the window of a street corner café. It was a noisy street filled with rowdy chatter of the merchants and gawkers. Their multi-colored clothes were quickening imagination in combination with spicy flavors and oriental sweets. Suddenly everything changed. He could not say for certain, but rather sensed some shift in the air. It seemed as if the voices got quieter and the vibes of the street hubbub became softer and calmer. Then he saw her. The stranger was walking clear through the crowd and her vibrant color clothing was flickering in the light, barely perceptible wind as if it was alive, and her face seemed to be shining from within. Her smooth movements were mesmerizing and alluring. He stood up and unwittingly made a few steps in her direction. But then she vanished in the heart of the crowd. The vision cleared away and he realized that he was standing in the middle of the road not knowing how he got there. Was she here or was it just a mirage?
