Miseducation of Love - No.5 Painting

Miseducation of Love as series explores the expectations vs realities of romantic love. Many, myself included, have taken love and others' affections for granted. No. 5 shows the reverence and power of the love I've received. My expectations that it was a casual encounter contrasted with the reality of the power love had in my life. The piece evokes emotions of power and the subject looks on to the audience regally. She cloaks herself in the darkness beneath and uses her power at her leisure. Her power forms a precious gold orb which represents all things special, beneficial and memorable. The materials also show contrast since the matte black covers a 24"x48" canvas while the yellow glossy acrylic covers the upper 24"x48' canvas. Together they form a complete image and a perfect square.
