About The Artwork
My wife's daughter Danielle who lives in a Manhattan took a weekend vacation in Montauk and visited this famous lighthouse there. I was moved to paint it. I used to summer with my father and his brother Bill in his awesome house in Montauk. The grandeur of the lighthouse, depth of the cliffs and ocean. I work with oil and canvas or board, I love simple landscapes with no real meaning or subject matter other than the beauty of the scene. I do some wet on wet for the sky, then I play fill in the colors very carefully, and over about a week to allow the darker colors to dry out in the sun to add highlights without mixing.
