Moor or Less Painting

If you’re anything like me and have a deep appreciation for the natural world and the creatures living within it that are dwindling at an alarming rate, then blasting innocent birds (namely red grouse in this case) out of the sky in huge quantities for so called ‘sport’ wouldn’t sit right with you either. Over the past few years, I’ve delved a little deeper in to this blood thirsty industry and I agree that more un-biased, incorrupt scientific research will always be of benefit, but the destruction of valuable carbon stores, bio-diversity loss, the unjustified killing of thousands of animals - not just grouse, but any form of life that’s a threat to them and damage to communities just isn’t acceptable to me, in the name of ‘leisure and tradition’. The Hen Harrier is very much an ambassador for raptor persecution in the UK, which is why I chose to paint such a beautiful bird.
