The painting is based on the marble statue "David", by Michelangelo. I wanted to reflect my modern vision on this great creation that has come down to us through the centuries. Focusing on the black and gray shades of the David sculpture fragment and using gilding as the background, I tried to convey the beauty of the stone and the volume of the sculpture in space. Primed canvas on cardboard. It is covered with varnish. The work is not framed in a baguette. I used the method of thin transparent layers of oil paint combined with gilding with the thinnest sheet plates. The gilded background of the painting changes color under different lighting conditions. This work received the finalist award in the "Portrait" ART SHOW INTERNATIONAL GALLERY, 2022
