Munstead Wood Rose - watercolour Painting

I've been an artist for over thirty years, working from my studio in Cardiff producing watercolour and pencil work of landscapes and botanical subjects. I sell my paintings online and from our gallery, "Oriel Makers" in Cardiff, which I and a small group of artists have run since 1991. My Degree was in Textile Design and texture continues to be important in my painting. I often start my watercolours with a watery wash of paint and enjoy developing the accidental flourishes this creates. I love all things botanical and take great inspiration from wild flowers and gardens, particularly my own small city garden. Apart from the beautiful landscapes around me in Wales, the other big influences on my art work are poetry, which has encouraged me to use calligraphy in my paintings, and travel, which has inspired me to paint landscapes in India and Italy as well as many places in the UK.
