Muse Painting

Working on this picture I was impressed by musical composition of The XX «Ecstasy». I wanted to make something tender and fragile against something ugly and terrifying, to contrast and to join them at the same moment. Those visual images are associated with high and low voices in this music. There is a scary and kind Monster in the picture. He is protecting the girl named Muse, he is her guardian angel. Fragile and sensitive girl symbolizes fragile and vulnerable inner world of an artist. Because a creative mindset is a confession of naked soul, because every artist puts his heart in his creation, to make not simply an image but to create a mood, to reveal a feeling… And artist also should remember about a technical part: composition, correctness of a drawing, spatial and colour perspective etc. Creating process is rather tense set of mind, soul and body. That is why it is very fragile state. An artist at the moment of painting is like string stretched too tight. And a human nature is to change depending on a situation. Thus the Monster can be interpreted as the one of many possible characters of the Muse, as the being she can turn into protecting herself.
