This Yin/Yang inspired piece has two distinct canvas emotions. The left is dark, messy, jumbled with deep colors and aggressive in its tone. The right, contrastingly, is spacious, free, empty and void-like. It's lone, small red anchor suggests the trance of energy in the empty space. They work together in a symbolic harmony, encouraging balance and mindful peace of mind.

Hello. I've taught 250,000 yoga students at my YogaHop Yoga Studios, with clients Tom Ford, Reese Witherspoon, Ron Howard, CEO's of Dreamworks, CAA, MGM, Warner Brothers and many more, (many of them are collectors of my paintings). My abstract/contemporary art is about bringing the spiritual discipline of Yoga to the canvas. I do this through a modern interpretation of the Eastern Yin/Yang symbol in order to capture a Western contemporary version of that Eastern spiritual totem. I see that we all commonly strive to live a balanced life. Work with rest, extroversion with introversion, eating healthy with enjoying food, being wild and being restrained, etc. My paintings are a compelling, abstract Yin/Yang spiritual symbol, and also warm & inviting in how it feels. Enjoy them and take in their reminder to achieve balance in whatever you do. Thank you. Namaste. -Matthew
