This painting comes from My personal Guernica, 150x100 cm, oil and acrylics on wood, dated 09.10.2012, my personal and colorful interpretation of the famous Picasso painting, inspired by the bombing of the Basque city in 1937. The work was also part of an installation, exposed for 6 months in the open air in San Daniele del Friuli as part of San Daniele 2020 (Lucifer: and in the end we went out to see the stars), an urban path with installations in memory of the 750 years from birth by Dante Alighieri promoted by the Friulian Plastic Arts Center. The painting, in January 2016, was recovered in San Daniele: it seemed to have fought against atmospheric events and to have resisted brilliantly, while reporting some wounds and fading. After this battle against time, I felt the need to cover the violence suffered by the work with a veil of pure white, so that everything would make peace. Memory creates a link with the past through signs that let the bright colors of the substrate shine through. Peace is always the fruit of contrasts, dialogues, past wounds that a new situation covers, even without concealing them. The present history reveals the past as if it were a fresco peeking out from under more recent surfaces
