The portrait My work manifests in the necessity to capture the real image of my models, and not in their figure, in who they are, in their inner self, in that which distinguishes them and makes them unique, immersing myself in this way in their most intimate world, focusing in the quest of the feelings that overwhelm them. This situation is a hyperlink that leads to many paths of sense, on one hand my characters proclaim their identity as a way to achieve certain permanency in the presence of the changes of the contemporary world, in which it seems that things emerge and then disappear rapidly. And, on the other hand, that desire of the individual of being himself merges with his longing of belonging to a collective identity that contains him. This summation of status, behaviours and ideas makes the person unique. My portraits can be interpreted as the equivalent of a permanent look, which sustains them beyond time. I give a great deal of importance to the strength of colour as a way of providing the portrait with a symbolic aura, managing in that way the paint, as if it was the skin itself so that my portraits can be truly of a determinate person and not similar to him/her. We are confronted by ourselves by the great events of our lives: birth, life and death. We are absolutely alone. And it is that way that my characters are presented alone in front of the spectator, proclaiming the emancipation of the spirit, alien to any exterior form.
