About The Artwork

Original painting: - Acrylic on canvas board - 40 cm diameter - 2020 - cheated with custom-made gold frame (56 x 56 cm), exclusive textile passepartout and anti-reflective museum glass 'New Peace' Is part of my series 'The Gifts I Carry With Me'. 'The Gifts I Carry With Me' is a collection of portraits of women representing different states of being and feelings. Together they are a round dance of strength and tenderness. This painting was created in 2020, during a time great uncertainty for so many people. I also felt fear and anxiety, was close to depression and fought for my mental well -being. And she came and told me her story about an inner peace that began to grow during this time.

Statement: I paint a new world Inspiration comes to me in the blink of an eye. An inner impression whose details I explore with my inner eyes. I try to capture it in a quick sketch to hold the sensation. That's when I get the first glimpse of what the artwork is all about. The whole process of creating is the excavation of the first impression until the art work unfolds and matches this first felt image. While I create, I feel immense joy to be free, bringing to life whatever I want. This sense of freedom is something I want to transmit to the viewer. I wish to inspire people to another subtle layer of reality that underlies everything. My works also illustrate my personal subjects of self awareness, self-love and self discovery, which I find also very universal. My main subject right now is trust. Trust as an open space. Trust in our self-efficacy through the daily small things. Trust in our heart. Trust in our intuition. Trust in our connection to the earth, the people, the animals, the cosmos. I express my art mainly through painting. It's where the act of creating out of the nothingness of a blank space is the most impressive to me. I do believe that art is magic, that I can paint ideas and visions into reality. I also stretch into drawing and assemblage to play and to collect new insights to apply later to another painting. I'm very much drawn to portraits, mostly of women, in combination with abstract shapes that I call a language. The women are close to my heart. They act as ambassadors for both, transferring my message to the viewer and transferring their message to me first. I want my art to spread a calm, joyful energy that uplifts the surrounding beings. Biography: Claudia Pollack was born in the former German Democratic Republic (GDR), a country that doesn't exist anymore. Painting, drawing and doing handycrafts where her most popular activities since childhood. After secondary school, she followed the advice of her parents and completed the vocational training for porcelain painting over four years. It equipped her with a great variety of skills in the study of nature, but was also limiting her creativity to a certain selection of flowers on plates and cups. She went to high school and applied for the study of arts afterwards but wasn't accepted. Claudia studied architecture instead and received her diploma in 2004, the year when her first child was born too.
