Srinathji the main deity of Nathwada Temple in Udaipur, Rajastha, India. Srinathji is an avatar of Sri Krishna. In this painting, lotus field is painted in the background of Srinathji. This type of paintings are called as 'Pichwai Painting'. Pichwai painting is 400 yrs old Indian art form originated at Nathwada, Udaipur in Rajasthan. This form of paintings are done behind the main deity of the Nathwada temple, 'Srinathji'. Literal meaning of 'Pichwai', is 'Pich' meaning background and 'Wai' means hanging. The main subject of Pichwai painting is Lotus, cow and the other elements related to Sri Krishna's life. Srinathji is always adorned in beautiful silken dresses and jewelleries, made of gold, silver, precious gems and stones. Jewelleries of Srinathji has been given a 3 dimensional effect. This painting is Varnished to protect it from dust and UV ray.
