Nature Allumée (Nature Lit) Painting

'Nature Allumée (Nature Lit)' is from a collection called 'Nature Fragile' that documents my response to the devastating impact of human beings on the natural world. This painting was the second in the series and a companion piece to 'Nature Infinie (Infinite Nature)'. It depicts nature in a claustrophobically shrinking world, as if looking through a pinhole camera, or watching the end of an early b&w film. The natural world is disappearing, with the focus on the vulnerable remains of a once vibrant environment. The hope is that we finally take notice and nurture what is left back into life. There is the ghost of a healthier plant behind the one that is wilting, the two directions we can take.
