Nebula - Distruction of a Planet Painting

I've changed the name to this painting at least three times. Regardless, this is an extra large (60"x72") oil painting on hand stretched canvas, of a nebula, asteroids and the destruction of a planet. This was a concentration piece that I was required to do during college, and instead of doing it the traditional way of light to dark, I did it dark to light, which nearly gave my professor a heart attack! I used glazes to work back from the dark to light which gives it a very luminescent, light and airy feel. Now, I know space enthusiasts will tell me that the watery planet being destroyed most likely wouldn't still have the water moving around it like that, and would be in a different stage all together, but for the sake of balancing the warm colors in the nebula, I chose to use the cools in the planet anyway.
