About The Artwork
This oil painting called "Neptune" was inspired by a love of beauty and classical greek statues. I was thinking of some kind of forgotten Atlantis or Mythological archetypal world. I hope the viewer would also share my love for the anatomy and symmetry of the original statue place in a fiery alchemical environment. I usually use oil paint because of the drying time, and depth of richness colour. I am torn between love of realism but also see the sublime in looser more abstract oil painting as well, so there are examples of both. the geometric design in the right hand corner added needed colour and depth.
