Night in Porto Painting

I do love Portugal and Porto is the city we go back to again and again. Just before the world closed for prolonged lockdown last year we spent a sublime long weekend there, safe in our naivety, not suspecting what was just around a corner for all of us. That was the view from our hotel windows, hard not to like - the magnificent Douro river, the elegant old bridge, the sea of delicious cellar roofs across the river. At night time all the lights multiplied by their reflections, so pretty and special, the celebration of that old beautiful place. I created that work on the arrival, already housebound, longing to travel, to see the other places, missing the old friends. As always it's mixed media plus acrylic on canvas, the mosaique of my memories, bits and pieces of our journey.
