ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I paint plein air at all times of the day & night to attempt to capture the elusive spirit of place. Observatory Hill is one of the best known & best loved Sydney lookouts, providing spectacular panoramic vistas of Sydney Harbour. This scene is very familiar to all residents & tourists. However, I've chosen to paint this iconic scene late at night. Iconic Sydney landmarks such as the Harbour Bridge & Luna Park, are eerily unfamiliar by night. The normally busy streets are almost deserted & headlights pierce the mysterious shadows.
