This is an impressionistic acrylic landscape based on Ardnamurchan Lighthouse (Taigh Solais Aird nam Murchan) in Acharacle, Argyll, Scotland. 'The Ardnamurchan Peninsula lies due west of Fort William in the West Highlands of Scotland. Its southern coast runs alongside Loch Sunart and the Sound of Mull. The northern coast looks towards the Hebridean islands of Skye, Muck, Eigg and Rhum. The coastlines meet at Ardnamurchan Point, the most westerly point on the British mainland.' (Ardnamurchan Lighthouse Website) In this vibrant painting you can see the Hebridean Isles, Rum and Muck in the distance disappearing into the night. The sunset is a mixture of fruity lemon yellows, watermelon and candy reds and mauve and wine purple. The honey yellow and tangerine orange artistic tones shine onto the lighthouse and prominent rocks in the foreground. The rocks and lighthouse were created using palette knives, giving a textured and realistic appearance to the painting. The artwork has been sprayed with a satin varnish to give the painting a clear, protective coating that will defend the art from dirt and grease.
