Ninfa (Nymph) Painting

The figure in this painting is a Nymph, and she is the origin of my Nymph series. Inspired by the mythical, magical beings from the Greek mythology, she is a mixture of opposite forces. Her head is adorned with flowers – a symbol of femininity – which at the same time seem to burden the figure. She has a piercing look and is staring directly at the spectator, seeming to ask questions. She is telling a story, but she depends on the observant to fill in the gaps of that narrative. She tells a different story to each viewer. She is powerful.
