No. 3 Painting

No 3. was created as part of a collection for Saatchi's The Other Art Fair LA. " for me a black line provides a sense of certainty, in exploring cubism and the idea of viewing multiple perspectives simultaneously, I started to think about how as humans we compartmentalize.. The abstracted planes of the face in shades of gray and the hard black lines represent a mask by which the character faces the outside world and the sensory elements in these works are taken further into abstraction or become more literal to denote the character's relationship to truth. There is a narrative in my head during to process of creation which helps me to choose the background color to either be in harmony or opposition to the inner working of the character. To me, It's more interesting to create curiosity for the viewer, in this way I hope the relationship with the work evolves just as a one's observation of book or a movie changes when you come back to it - I hope what you see changes as you change.
