About The Artwork
How would audiences respond to a modern Noh theatrical Japanese play? Performed more than 1000 years ago, it is the antithesis of modern day fast moving cut aways and panning in movies. The stillness and deliberation of the movements and sounds would most likely put modern day audiences to sleep. But Im interested in a modern day version. In this painting I was inspired by Noh theatre and their slow deliberate movements. I recreated that feeling while painting broad brush strokes over the acrylic glazed back ground.
