Norman the Nuthatch Painting

My regular sighting of Norman the nuthatch has been in the grounds of Compton Verney, Warwickshire. He is usually around the yew trees singing loud and clear, allowing me to spot him. I could not get a good photo of Norman though as he is always too quick for me! A wonderful photographer – Igano Kabamaru allowed me to use one of his amazing photos. I love the sleekness of this little bird with slick black eye stripe and steely grey blue colouring. And I love the peachy pink of his breast. There is something sharp and focused about Norman, he knows what he wants and he pretty much gets it. He does seem to have powerful claws and short strong legs – although you can’t see them in this painting, his movement is agile and even acrobatic. Who would have thought lunch could taste so good upside down? – Norman.
