About The Artwork
Shoebill birds are one of my all time favourite animals and since I adore painting nature, I've immortalised this somewhat scary bird. Love or hate, you have to admin these birds are cool. These birds are also not dodo's, as I've had to tell people many times. I wanted the shoebill to be the centre of attention here but I also needed to see it in its natural habitat. I used stencils I made to create leaf and grass like shapes that you see in the background. Applied with thick texture, an animal and its habitat are symbiotic and that's what I wanted to convey.
