Not so coy koi Painting

Koi are marvellous fish to paint, so colourful and self aware. Staying at the surface of the water mostly these fish can live up to 100 years old and regularly live to 75. According to Japanese and Chinese history and culture the different colours of a koi represent different things to the owner. Gold koi, gives riches and wealth. Red and white patterns with red around the mouth — the 'lipstick' look, means love and longevity in a relationship. A koi that is all silver offers success in business and wealth. So I made sure I included all those style of fish in the painting! So obviously if you buy the painting it will bring you success and wealth etc.! Like the way they swim, move and reflect light, I used a very free and broad stroke.
