You can convey a story or generate emotions through images. Paint, brushes and, among other things, canvas are only tools for me to arouse and bring these emotions or stories to life. When I paint, my mind, as it were, directs these tools towards the final result. The moment I am in a painter's 'flow', I slowly build up this emotion with the story, and project it onto the canvas or other medium. At that moment my brain has something to transmit that keeps me busy. Of course I start a painting with a certain thought, but that can well change during the course of the process into something unexpected that will (strongly) take over. I will always embrace that process and make it happen. The final image I create will not be an accurate figurative construction of this emotion or that story, but rather an abstract representation of it. It will have to do with something that concerns me at that moment, at that time, in that period. It looks like a dream translated into paint on canvas with brushes and other tools. Themes that currently occupy me are: Humans in relation to nature. "Man is nature" is my saying. I am also immensely fascinated by the resemblance between macro- and microstructures in nature and how they can also correspond to structures unconsciously created by humans. Here, too, man is part of nature. If we as human beings realize better that we are nature, I hope that we will also treat it with more respect, as 'fellow species'. I would like these emotions to be expressed in cheerful and or aesthetically beautiful paintings. I am a positive person and the result can simply be enjoyed. I hope that works and happens.
