About The Artwork

This is the third work in the "Nyepi" series, inspired by the tradition of Bali once a year, to have a day of silence and darkness. I live in Bali long time and this tradition my favorite. On Nyepi day, which is New Year’s day in the Balinese Saka Calendar, the island of Bali turns off all lights and sounds, stops all traffic, deserts all worldly activities, and meditates, while complete silence and serenity reigns over the entire island. On March 2, 2022 in Bali celebrated the New Year and was the Ogoh-Ogoh parade. The year 1944 began according to the Balinese Saka calendar.

Hello, My name is Uliana Fandera. I’m from Russia, based in Bali island, Indonesia. I’m a contemporary full time artist and have been creating paintings in the abstract and surrealism style of art since 2002. I am a self-taught and independent artist. The ideas for my art work come to me from the unconscious. The moment I start drawing the first line on the canvas, I never know where it will take me. In my art works I use irony, bold, positive colors, shapes and images. There is enough pain, sadness and evil in our world and I don't want to magnify it by reflecting it in my work. I want my art work to bring joy, make you smile and move you to see the world through different eyes. The main themes of my art are: psychology, mythology, religion, mysticism, culture. I draw in the style of surrealism and abstraction because I feel maximum freedom in this style. Here I can say anything, even if it's impossible to say it. Here everyone can see their meaning, which is close to their soul and heart. This is the true intellectual art, art puzzle. Offline exhibition: Indonesia, Bali, Karangasem, Candidasa JL. Pantai Indah E-Mail: uliana.fandera@gmail.com
