About The Artwork
A horizon line in the center of the canvas, divides and unifies at the same time two abstract worlds. The nymphs in ancient Greek folklore are female nature deities, regarded as personifications of nature. The four repeated heads allude to the four subgroups in which they were divided: Meliae (ash tree nymphs), the Naiads (freshwater nymphs), the Nereids (sea nymphs), and the Oreads (mountain nymphs). The upper part is characterized by a more human made physical setting. Though solid colors with no contour, emerge geometric elements as that of arches, columns and stairs. Motifs of Greek mythology evolve into contemporary forms bridging the gap between old and new, nature and artefact, classicism and modernism.

Christina Moschou was born in Thessaloniki, GR. She is currently working as a freelancing architect and artist based in Brussels, BE. She holds a Bachelors and Master’s degree in architecture, architectural engineering and urbanism from the UCL/ LOCI department in Brussels. She is passionate about contemporary architecture, art and design. Since her teenage years, she practiced the visual arts, which she continued to enrich with a more architectural approach through her studies. Currently, in parallel with her residential projects, she is working in 2D and 3D pieces, while she is collaborating with different companies in the fashion and marble industry.
