About The Artwork

"Outnumbered", a monochromatic minimal 36x48" painting with dimensional paint of a tally, providing a textured feel. Inspired by mental health and illness. According to the World Health Organization, 450 million people struggle with mental illness and is the leading cause of disability. In Canada it affects more than 6.7 million and by the age of 40, one in two Canadians have or have had a mental illness. The World Health Organization estimates that every 40 seconds, one person dies by suicide. It is the second leading cause of death for people aged 15-24, after accidents. 70% of mental health issues begin during childhood/adolescence. Although mental health awareness has become more a part of the conversation, there’s still very much a stigma associated with it. It’s good to always keep in mind that what you see on the surface is not always what’s happening underneath. -Unframed - Includes attached wire on the back for hanging canvas - Galley Wrapped Heavy Duty Canvas

Pandora Owl was born and raised outside of Toronto, Ontario. Started her journey, building a career in advertising until she decided to make a leap into following her art passion. Her art focuses on mental health & illness in order to help comfort those who suffer from it as well as exposing it to those who don’t. She leverages mixed media in order to tell her stories, often referencing her youth by incorporating items such as comics and or toys; a style she developed in her art class back in high school. Her textured mixed media art has many layers that can be seen and felt but most importantly ignite and continue the conversation of mental health as it’s increasingly making its way to the forefront.
