This piece is inspired by the stone, Obsidian. It takes inspiration from the magical, organic nature of the stone and the unique nature of each piece. The natural world is full of beauty and whimsy and this piece aims to represent that rich beauty. I chose to use the resin to represent the gleaming nature of polished obsidian, juxtaposed with the plaster to represent the more organic, unpolished nature of raw obsidian. I hope that viewers use this piece as a springboard for contemplation about the natural world. Hanging hardware is included and the finest materials have been used.
