October is at the heart of the autumn season, which is itself the transition from summer to winter. In many parts of the world, it's a beautiful time of year. Some days reflect the warmth that is fleeting and some days bring a chill that is yet to come. Autumn can be truly stunning, with the trees aflame in yellow, orange, gold and russet leaves. Autumn is also a time of life, when we reflect on our lives--where we've been and hope still for what is to come. The days become precious as we hope the winter--with all of its distress--will stay away a bit longer! This painting began on watercolor paper, which was then mounted onto a half inch birch wood panel. The reverse side of the wood has been routed with a "keyhole" for easy hanging. The painting has been given a satin varnish for long life and protection.

I'm interested in the language of abstraction, and I often use collage or multiple layers of paint to express multiple layers of experience. I work in oils, cold wax, watercolor, and sometimes alcohol inks, allowing the strengths of each medium to contribute to the overall expression of the piece. My work appears in private collections throughout the country.
