About The Artwork

This beautiful landscape captured my eyes when I traveled visiting on the outskirts of downtown Harrisonburg, Virginia in the Shenandoah Valley. I quickly sketched out the formation trying to illustrate the cattle in place. It's location sits very close to the road I was traveling then. It was a beautiful sight to see. Acrylic paint has always been a favorite to paint in the work I do while landscapes can be challenging for me to paint. Through the process, I believe it really worked out well in the long run.

I am Cheryl Clayton, a Virginia born artist, who concentrates on figurative drawings and paintings about the African-American community. Along with African-American themes, I also work on other subjects of our world. The paintings or drawings could be reality or abstract in concept. Some paintings could turn into an assemblage of materials to complete. My main media is acrylic, charcoal, and sometimes watercolor.
