Jana Vanessa Derksen, born in 1998 in Bielefeld, Germany, studied Architecture in Detmold from 2016 to 2021. During her studies, she discovered her passion for abstract painting through hands-on studio courses. “What fascinates me is how form, structure, and color can resonate freely—without rigid rules,” she says. This sense of openness led her to develop a distinctive artistic approach that has since become her signature: her unique spatula technique. Her paintings are collected throughout the world. The paintings are unique by it's mixture of abstractness and concretness. She uses acrylic paint and a special palette knifes technique for its significant recognition value.
