About The Artwork

The om (also aum or ohm) is considered the sacred breath in Hinduism and Buddhism. Both religions believe it to be the divine word or breath that began the process of creation, hence the most important sound in meditation on life and spirituality. Om is essentially the sound created by the individual consonants of A, U, and M. Fittingly, it is therefore representative of trinities throughout its use, particularly in Hinduism. Each sound is said to represent, respectively, Brama The Creator, Vishnu The Preserver, and Shiva The Destroyer, the three principal deities in the religion. In terms of meditation, the om (AUM) is created using all three elements of the human voice: the A comes from the throat, and the U and M from the lips. This is Mantra mandala as it consists of 4 Tibetan words "Om Mane Padme Hum" written around the central symbel 108 times. Om Mani Padme Hum is the Avalokitesvara’s six-syllable mantra, which you can find carved in stones, prayer wheels, prayer flags, chaitya, wall, and path. Buddhists believe that saying the mantra (prayer), Om Mani Padme Hum, invokes the powerful benevolent attention and blessings of the Buddha. Viewing the written form of the mantra is said to have the same effect. The Meaning of Om Mani Padme Hum OM is referred to as Pure Body or Soul Mani is Jewel or Beads Padme means the lotus flower – the sacred flower of Buddhist Hum represents the spirit of Enlightenment or Unity As stated by the Dalai Lama “Thus the six syllables, om mani Padme hum, mean that in dependence on the practice of a path which is an indivisible union of method and wisdom, you can transform your impure body, speech, and mind into the pure exalted body, speech, and mind of a Buddha”
