About The Artwork
'On top of the world' was created directly after my painting 'Tilting Ocean' as my imagination wanted to explore having the ocean tilting off the horizon and into an endless sky. In this painting a figure sits on top of a platform that balances on an Earth-like planet. Outstretched behind the figure aren't wings but a blue rose that morphs into spilling water that fills the platform of ocean below, eventually overspilling into the endless dark sky. Dynamic figures composed of confident line work, bold, fluid shapes and vivid colours are a reappearing theme in my work as they speak to my values of living a rich life and self actualisation. In this work the figure seems serene and peaceful and fully confident and relaxed in this space.
