ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This is much more graphic design than my usual work: I wanted to work with some simple flat colours and get a vivid effect against a black background, rather like a coloured lino-cut. The materials used are tough, waterproof, and this very decorative painting could be hung in a steamy bathroom without ill effects.

Born Cairo, Egypt 19.9.1949. I have painted for my living for over 50 years, through thick and thin. Nowadays I have my studio in West Dorset, previously North Yorkshire. In normal times, I aim to travel for half the year, painting as I go, usually in goache, very portable. All my painting is on a black background, and the image emerges out of the Void, a fairly thrilling process. The subject matter: I only paint what I find beautiful, fascinating, and what makes me happy. These qualities mean the paintings will outlast the whims of fashion.
